Troubleshooting Group Messaging (MMS) on V1 SIM

Staying connected is important. If you’re unable to send or receive group with your Ting SIM, follow these steps to resolve the issue.

Try these steps

1. Try sending a text message

Send a message to a single contact to confirm that basic texting works.

2. Turn off Wi-Fi and check data

Disable Wi-Fi and ensure your mobile data is working. Group and picture messages require data services.

3. Check your messaging settings

  • iPhone: Go to Settings > Messages > iMessage and ensure it’s toggled On.
  • Android: Open Messages, tap your profile icon (or menu icon), navigate to Messages settings > RCS chats, and ensure RCS is toggled On.
    • Note: RCS services are unavailable on Ting V1 SIMs activated after July 12, 2024.

4. Confirm airplane mode is off

iPhone
  • Swipe down to open the Control Center.
  • Tap the airplane icon to disable Airplane mode if it’s highlighted.
Android
  • Open Settings > Network & Internet.
  • Toggle Airplane mode Off.

5. Restart your device

A quick restart can refresh your connection to the cellular network.

6. Check your phone number status

Log in to your Ting account and verify that your number is active.

7. Confirm you are not roaming internationally

Ting Mobile currently supports roaming only in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
