We want to make your eSIM activation process smooth and simple. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned—but don’t worry, you’re not alone. We’re here to help you get connected.
Steps to try
1. QR code not working? Install your eSIM manually
If the QR code won’t scan, don’t worry. You can set up your eSIM manually. Use the SM-DP+ address and activation code sent in your email to complete the installation.
2. Is Your phone unlocked?
To activate with Ting, your phone must be unlocked from its current carrier. Contact your previous carrier if you’re unsure.
3. Check your internet connection
A reliable connection is essential for eSIM activation. Make sure your phone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network or mobile data.
4. Remove old SIM cards
Physical SIM cards can interfere with eSIM activation. Take out your old SIM card from the SIM tray before you start.
5. Try airplane mode
Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then turn it off. This resets your phone’s network connections and can resolve setup issues.
6. Disable VPN and security apps
VPNs or security apps can block the eSIM activation process. Temporarily turn them off and try again.
7. Complete your number transfer
If you’re bringing your phone number to Ting, wait until the transfer is complete before installing your eSIM. You’ll get an email confirmation when your transfer is ready.
8. Remove old eSIM profiles
Unused eSIM profiles can cause confusion. Delete any unnecessary profiles before installing a new eSIM. Keep in mind, deleted profiles cannot be restored.
9. Update Your phone’s software
Ensure your device’s software is current to avoid compatibility problems.

11. Factory reset
If nothing else works, a factory reset might help. This is usually a last resort. Be sure to back up your data first, as this will erase your device.
