Through the Ting account dashboard, you can quickly suspend your service to keep your phone number secure if you need to suspend it to prevent usage.
Suspending your phone number
Suspending your Ting number allows you to temporarily make your phone number unavailable for mobile service while keeping your number secure. It's an alternative to deactivating your phone number since a deactivated number becomes available for reassignment, and we may not be able to reactivate the same number at a later time.
We recommend suspending your service if your phone has been misplaced and you are waiting for a replacement phone or when you're traveling out of the country for an extended period and do not need your phone service until you are back.
Suspending a phone number will prevent usage on the line, but your Ting Plan will be billed at the base rate while the phone number is suspended. To keep your billing to a minimum, we suggest changing to the Flex Plan if you need to keep your phone number suspended for awhile.
Your phone number can be easily resumed for service at any time after it has been suspended.
Changing the status of your phone number
- Navigate to Device settings on your Ting account online.
- Click on the pencil icon next to the phone number you are looking to change.
- Select the pencil icon once again next to the status of the phone number selected.
- From the drop-down menu, choose Suspend this device and confirm your selection.
Note: Phone numbers on the GSM network may not have the option to suspend. If you have a GSM phone number you want to suspend, you can contact customer care for assistance.
If you accidentally deactivate your phone number, contact customer care as soon as possible, and we will try our best to recover your number. While we cannot guarantee we can restore a deactivated number, we have the best results within the first two weeks after deactivation.
