Swapping From Your X1 SIM Card To X3 SIM Card

Making the swap to a new SIM card is an easy process that can be done in a few minutes. Just follow these steps…

 

***When contacting our support team to exchange your SIM card, please call from a different phone, as pulling the card out will temporarily disable your device. If you don't have another phone, you can chat with us from your computer, tablet, or other internet-connected device.

Please ensure your mailing address is correct on our account so the replacement SIM card reaches you. To update your address, please log in to your account, go to "My Account" and make updates in the "Billing Information" section.***

 

Step 1: Have the following available: phone, IMEI, and ICCID numbers of the X3 SIM card. If unsure of what your IMEI number is, you can find it by dialing *#06# on your device. The ICCID number can be found on the back of your new card under the barcode.

Step 2: Back up any voicemails you want to save. Swapping to the new SIM card will erase any voicemails in your mailbox. You should be able to save or archive the voicemails through your voicemail app, but you should look up the specific directions for your device from the manufacturer.

 

Step 3: Contact Ting Support by dialing 1-855-846-4389, or using our online chat portal.

 

Step 4: Once we've completed the swap on our end, remove the old SIM card from your device and insert the new one by following the instructions below. Please note that these are generic steps, and you may need to look up the steps from your phone manufacturer.

  1. Locate the SIM tray on the side of your device
  2. Insert a paper clip into the ejector hole of the SIM tray.
  3. Replace the old SIM card with the new X3 SIM card. (Make sure you have punched out the correct size)
  4. Insert the tray back into your phone. You should hear a click once it is locked into place.

With the new SIM installed, restart your phone. This will allow the phone to reactivate on the network with the new SIM card.

1. Why do I have to change my SIM card anyway?

As we evolve as a business, we are continually upgrading our system to provide improved connectivity and overall customer experience. This requires that older SIM cards be deactivated and replaced with newer ones.

2. How do I know that I have punched out the correct size SIM Card?

Most phones nowadays require a nano-size SIM card. This is the smallest size that you can punch out. The other sizes available are Standard (the largest size) and Micro (the Middle size). If your phone is an older device, it may need one of those two sizes. 

3. Will I be able to keep my number?

Yes!

4. How long will I be without service?

Your downtime should only be as long as it takes to pop out the old inactive SIM card and install the newly activated SIM card.

5. Is this going to cost me anything?

Not at all. Because we are making this change we are happy to provide you with a new SIM card free of charge.

6. Will I need to do anything to set up my phone after the swap?

You may need to set up your voicemail again. To do that you can follow the steps in this article.
